Let’s Have a Picnic!

To celebrate National Picnic week, June 17th-23rd, grab your friends and family, delicious food, and get out there! Here are some quick tips to help plan a perfect picnic:

  • Start with a picnic basket or bag. Depending on how fancy you want to go, choose dishes/silverware or paper goods/plasticware. Bring all food in containers with lids. If bringing salad, layer in a jar with the “wet” ingredients at the bottom (i.e dressing) and then from heaviest to lightest, with lettuce on top.This genius method prevents salad from  getting soggy.
  • Similar to the salad jar, make sure to pack your basket with the heavier items on the bottom and lighter on top to avoid smashing delicate foods.
  • Choose a cute blanket! This gives the picnic added flair and fun.

  • Don’t forget to throw in the sunscreen and bug spray!
  • Bring a game, activity or books. Throwing in a simple board game or a Frisbee to toss around keeps the fun going after your amazing meal. If that sounds like too much work, there is always an outdoor nap
